AMAC: Supreme Court Decision on Obamacare Was a Pyrrhic Victory for the President

He won in court, but it will cost him his re-election, increasing the probability of repeal  –

BOHEMIA, NY, July 2 – “He denied the tax implications of Obamacare until the bitter end, but the Supreme Court exposed the real cost of the president’s law—as much as hundreds of dollars a month for some taxpayers,” according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

“The Court’s decision to uphold the healthcare reform law was a pyrrhic victory for President Obama.  He won the decision in court, but it will cost him his reelection, thus increasing the probability that the Affordable Care Act [ACA] will be repealed by a new administration and a new Congress.”

The court ruled that the individual mandate provision of the ACA is, in fact, a new tax to be borne by all Americans.  It also struck down the provision that would force states to expand Medicaid coverage for the poor, which will drive more and more people to Federally funded insurance pools where they will get coverage at additional taxpayer expense.

“No wonder the president’s Congressional ally, Nancy Pelosi, didn’t want us to know what was in the bill until after passage.  We’ve been had,” Weber said.

“But, there is still hope because the more than 60% of Americans who oppose the law will have their say in November and already the Supreme Court’s ruling has begun to galvanize the opposition.”

Within minutes of the announcement by the Court Thursday morning, the Romney campaign announced that new contributions in support of his election were coming in at an unprecedented rate, Weber explained.  In addition, he noted, that within hours of the Court’s announcement, news organizations were reporting on voter dissatisfaction.

For example, the Christian Science Monitor reported that: “The tide of opinion has been running against the Obama plan – the signature achievement of his first term. Only 28 percent of Americans said that they would be pleased if the Supreme Court ruled that the health-care law was constitutional, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.”

The Association of Mature American Citizens [] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those traditional organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.

I thought that Obamacare went in front of the Supreme Court under the Commerce Clause, because it was a penalty, and I thought the Supreme Court was supposed to rule on whether it was constructional under it’s own merits, I didn’t know that Justice Roberts was supposed to rewrite Obamacare so it could be redone under a TAX? I think Justice Roberts did a huge injustice to the American People.

The Supreme Court has spoken- Obamacare is a tax. Romney MUST hammer this point home constantly through daily talking points. It is the largest tax increase in the history of the US. Most of us over age 50 stand to suffer, and not simply monetarily. Obamacare must be repealed. Senior Citizens as a voting block must speak as one in support of our children and grandchildren, who project to suffer the most!

The only people that would not want to repeal this tax increase are the uniformed and fearful. You have to consider the big picture and what this means to our nation down the road. They have not done their homework and researched this president and his czars (what they truly stands for) and the obamacare consequences to the majority. obama has stated himself that he is a supporter of marxism and socialism. He would make a great dictator. We are the next Greece, ect.
