AMAC Urges Older Americans to Lead the Way to the Voting Booth in November

votersWe need to show new voters how to exercise their most important right and their most profound responsibility

WASHINGTON, DC, Sep 30 – There was some distressing news from Gallup earlier this week.  Voters will be staying home in droves this year, according to the polling organization.

Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens, says that it is not a good thing.  “You’d think that with all of the hoopla surrounding the 2016 Presidential Elections, voters would be particularly energized this year.   But Gallup says that its survey shows only 69% of the electorate say they will definitely exercise their right to vote come November.  In fact, an astounding 72% of respondents in its poll say they really haven’t given much thought to the election.”

Weber warns that by not casting their ballots those non-voters are, in effect, opting for the candidates proposed by the “other party.”  He says it also diminishes our respect for good government, undermines our representative democracy and makes us weaker as a nation.  In addition, he adds, elections are meant to unify the country by allowing all eligible voters to have their say in who shall lead them and by not voting we create a deeper divide.

“This year, more Americans want a change in the direction our country has taken in recent years.  They want to take back their ability to control their lives as our forebears did in the good old days when the Constitution was considered an inviolable document that made our democracy the envy of the world.  Voter apathy is a threat to all of that.”

It has been reported that young Millennials and their immediate predecessors who were called Generation X constitute the largest voting bloc in the U.S., having taken over the spotlight from Baby Boomers.  But the Gallup poll indicates that only 47% of younger voters say they will definitely get out and vote in 2016, down from 58% in 2012.

Thus, Weber says, older Americans can still lead the way by example and he is calling on the members of his influential senior advocacy organization to do all they can to invigorate the nation this November.

“AMAC was founded by a membership determined to make a difference, activists who believe that all is not yet lost.  We need to get out the vote.  We need to urge our voting age family members and friends to prove that the graying of America, where 10,000 of us turn 65 years of age each day, is a good thing.  Perhaps it will also show new voters how to exercise their most important right and their most profound responsibility.  One thing’s for sure, it will also show the world that the U.S. is not in decline; that we are on the rise again.”

If you are planning on not voting because you don’t like Trump, then vote for Trump to get Mike Pence. And consider, what will you tell your grand children when they asked what you did to stop the turning over of the U.S.A. to the ” global community?”
Did I miss the A.M.A.C. article about Obama giving over control of the internet to foreign entities?

If Trump wins, it will be a first in human history. He will have defeated the opposition party, his own party, the modern media complex and the “entertainment” industry.

It is vital that Trump win if we want to keep our country and bring it back to where it used to be. I cannot, for the life of me, see why people cannot see through Clinton. Trump maybe was not our first choice, but he is the only choicde now.

However hopeless the election may seem because of no good presidential candidates, you can still do much good with your vote for other offices. The more local the office you are voting for, the more directly it counts. By staying home because there isn’t anyone worth voting for president, you give up the opportunity to vote for a good county sheriff, judges, county commissioner, etc.

I agree. I am what is considered a Super voter as I do not miss a vote that affects my state or nation. After reading the proceeding piece I will be thanking any younger voter for taking the time to just be there to vote.

From what I see the nation is better off if today’s imbecilic uninformed and celebrating it youth, stay as far away from the voting booth as possible.

Today scripture readings, Habakkuk 1:1-5 and the Gospel of Luke 17:1-10.
I will do my duty as a citizen and vote. Do I need to tell you who to vote for? No. It’s your right as an American citizen to vote for whomever you believe is fit to lead this country.
Thank you.

I completely agree with Shadow64. And, Stephen, if you object to the reality that illegals can vote and determine the future of your own country (I do, too), then that’s the strongest reason for you to cast your vote against the party that keeps pretending that there is no voter fraud!

People say there is no viable choice in this election. Lets look at the choices:
Gary Johnson: Not enough votes pulled to make a difference except taking votes away from Trump. Clueless on current affairs. Will defeat ISIS if somebody tells him what ISIS is. Has a vice-president no body has ever heard of.
Donald Trump: Successful in business, and looking at his kids, successful as a parent. No experience in politics which could translate into an asset. Not afraid to say what he thinks. Better a poor way of saying what is true than a great way of saying what is untrue. Supreme court nominees that are conservative. The support and possible staff members and advisors that include Newt Gingrich, Bill Bennett, John Sununu, Trey Gowdy, Marco Rubio, Willie Gohmert, Rudy Giuliani, Darrel Issa, Judge Andrew Napolitano, endorsements from the NRA, evangelicals, Border agents, several decorated military veterans, security people, Governors and former Governors like Mary Fallon, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry. Celebrities like Jon Voigt, Clint Eastwood. Lower taxes, job growth and an end to stifling regulations. Pro-cop, anti-BLM. Support from many in law enforcement. I could go on. Vice-President if something should happen…Mike Pence.
Hillary Clinton: Obama 2.0, more government healthcare, more welfare, more refugees, more taxes, cops required to improve upon themselves. pro-BLM, all things she said she would do. Put coal miners out of business, called people deplorables and young people only Baristas, hangs out with Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Harry Reid, Al Sharpton, Howard Dean. Open borders, religions required to step back, and leadership that stays back. Her victory would vindicate the dishonest media, embolden celebrities with influence that threat leaving the country otherwise…oh please do. Activist judges shutting down the first and second amendments and talk radio, the fairness doctrine in effect, funded abortions, and more scandals because that isn’t going to change because she is in power, it will increase because she is in power. I could go on. Vice-president if something should happen…Tim Kaine.
So what again makes it a case of no choices?

Maria

And Kaine has Islamic ties, but they profess him to be a good Christian….. sounds wishy-washy to me. But otherwise, Mr Lopresto your post is an excellent one and although this is a “senior” membership website, I wish more young people could read this article so they can learn a thing or two, from their “elders.” It’s going to take us Mature Americans to lead the way to the polls so we can make a difference in our next government!

Clark Kent

‘Cops required to improve upon themselves’? You meant to say ‘cops won’t do ANYTHING pro-active and will only respond to radio calls and take their time getting to same’. ‘All you have to do is answer the radio’ – old (and true) police saying.

Charles Lopresto
Reply to  Clark Kent

The anti-cop environment created by the Obama administration has made it impossible and risky for a police officer to be pro-active and go beyond what is required of them. 99% of the law enforcement folks want to contribute to their community and they want to be a positive force for good. But they are scrutinized so heavily by these “activists” and critics that it just comes down to damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. If we restrict our right to bear arms in the event that a cop can’t be there, and we marginalize the cops to the extent that they no longer want to be there, then if you have a problem, well, you are on your own, my friend.

I am definitely voting for Trump. There is no way I will be voting for the other candidate(Clinton) that will be bringing an increase of up to 550% of the migrants from Syria and elsewhere that will hardly be vetted for the nations’ security. Higher taxes aimed towards the middle class. Continued chipping away at our 2nd Amendment Rights. Border security issues, the future of the U.S. Supreme Court, etc. No way in Hell will I stay home or vote for Clinton.

I will vote. However, I understand, particularly in this election, why so many may choose not to. I say not voting is a type of vote. On the other hand, I would say to those who are choosing not to vote, that there are a lot of other things on the ballot that are very important. You can always vote on everything else and not vote for president; or try writing in a name, that would be even better than a “none of the above” protest vote.

Clark Kent

Reply to  David Campbell

Not voting, voting for a third party candidate, or writing in a name is the same as voting for HiLIARy. There is no such thing as a ‘protest vote’ in a two party system. And by the way, not voting is inexcusable considering the THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of those Americans who died face down in the mud in order to secure our right to vote.

Decided to mention our age (80) and post this encouraging message on our public Facebook page. Also encouraged our church to encourage voting. Our church distributed information on requirements for re-registering as those who move and/or marry (name change) don’t realize they need to re-register.

Jeanne

“Not voting is voting for the opposition”…right! However, when there is no viable choice, it is totally understandable that people plan to stay home, though it may pain them to do so. Voting for the lesser of two evils is often valid. In this case, that too, is questionable. The conservatives say, “Vote Trump”, he has said he will appoint conservative judges. He has said he is pro-family, and all for protecting rights of churches, Christians, etc. Only problem here is that Politifact and others report that Trump has lied 75% of the time, vs. Hillary – 29% of the time. And so we’re to believe his promises of what he will do? We’ve all watched him either try to backtrack or do damage control on things he has said on an almost daily basis, and he listens to no-one, he’s his own man! We know that Hillary has a way more liberal and amoral/immoral agenda, promoting every kind of lifestyle message, and penalizing those not in agreement with it, and will appoint leftist supreme court judges. Wow, what choices! No wonder people are thinking of staying home

So you are actually going to believe that Trump has lied more than Clinton by a margin of 75% vs. 29%? There is a concerted effort by the Washington establishment, the news media, the broadcast and entertainment media and the academics to convince us that Trump is all bad and Clinton is all good. When you have people in politics who have always been in politics so adamantly afraid of having a private citizen who has never been in politics win, don’t you wonder what is going on? Do you really want these same people, these same scandals, these same programs and these games being played? If Hillary wins, I never want to hear from anybody, anywhere, say when something goes wrong, “I wish we could throw these bums out. I am tired of all this stuff that always goes on. i am tired of the usual politics.” If allowing Hillary to win is justification for you being upset with Trump’s demeanor, then this is all on you folks.

Jeanne, if you keep on believing what you read or hear, in the news, on the news, or negative-minded people like yourself, then you are dreaming!!! We all know the media is so biased and bought and paid for by some billionaire idiot or idiots who only want to disrupt our voting process so their candidate can win so they can wreak more havoc to our already dysfunctional government, so I suggest you take off those “rose-colored” glasses you’re looking through and see what is actually going on today, and that this country is in deep trouble!!!!! Listen to Trump…he’s been telling us all along what he wants to do but the media and Hillary are always interjecting their negative vibes in there so people like you will listen to them! Time to wake up and smell the “stench” of dirty government and I can guarantee you will; not like it one bit! Look at a Hillary “throwing in” that former Miss Universe who Trump supposedly insulted back in 1998….a diversion tactic from the real issues at hand, at the first debate……only to find out Ms Machado was no angel at all!!! If she was in America when she committed some crimes in her home country, she would have been charged as a felon. She was also a porn star. Is that what our country wants and what kind of a role model was she when she won the Miss Universe crown???? That gives Hillary 2 “black eyes”…the first was at the DNC convention when she had a Mr.Khan insult Trump, and he too, does not have a clean record and now , with Ms Machado. Come out from under rock and see things for what they really. are……Hilary is clearly not our choice for president!!!!
Remember too, all the wrong-doings Hillary has committed and she seems to just shrug them off as if they were no big deals at all! This election will tell the world either we take our country back, or we sink into a socialist state and lose everything this country prided itself on. Take your pick, my dear and God bless you that you make the right decision.

Voting in national elections has become very perplexing. That is because over many decades, the voting process has become tarnished and somewhat irrelevant. We vote to change things in DC and all we get is radical leftists from the Dems and do nothing RINOs from the Repubs. DC has become an arena of central planning unto itself where the people, the true owners and rulers of this country, have been marginalized. The Constitution is constantly thrown to the wolves and the politburo in DC ignores the citizens and our laws and subjects us to slavery and servitude as a means to control us. The actors in DC are there only to line their own pockets through abuse and theft and to take care of themselves. We no longer exist. 1,000 Trumps won’t change it. I am beyond disgusted with the political scene we have to endure and the sell out of our country to Communists and Islamic terrorists. The scum in DC does not deserve my precious vote. They have not earned my respect. Though I am voting for Trump, only because Hillary should be banned from the planet.

A person’s vote is “We The People” If “We the People” don’t speak up, what will happen to the United States of America? I personally think Donald Trump is closer to “We The People” than Clinton even though he seems to be an arrogant, egotistical person.

AMAC, this is an awful lead article for this week’s newsletter. We just had a Presidential debate that purposely favored Hillary. Where were the questions over her Benghazi lies to the victim’s families, her knowingly having an illegal server and her coverup over the destruction of over 30,000 emails, her use of her position as Secretary of State to benefit the Clinton Foundation “donations” as pay for play? Why wasn’t she questioned about her Communist upbringing as a follower of Saul Alinsky? Why wasn’t she questioned over her firing by her supervisor in the Watergate investigation because she was unethical as a lawyer and her refusal to obey and follow the guidelines of the Constitution? The behavior of the moderators in these debates to give the American people the truth is deplorable! We’ve lost our country for good if these Commies get elected again and finally get to disarm the people. Rise up people and vote them out or we’ll be fighting the War for Independence all over again!

Because the media is bought and paid for and they feel they have the right to ask harrowing questions of Trump and favorable ones for Hillary. But from what I understand, at this next debate, Trump is letting loose and getting her on all those topics……the gloves are coming off. And I saw a pictorial email of Hillary wearing some kind of gadget under her red jacket at the debate, on her back, which sat at her waist and a line went up to her shoulder. area. I wonder what that could be???? No wonder Trump complained that something was wrong with his microphone and the news confirmed it. Was she wearing a “wire” perhaps?Something smelled fishy. We should all know by now, that things always are rigged to suit the favorite candidate and that is so unfair. It’ll be interesting to see who the moderator will be at this next debate…they shouldn’t use newscasters. as they are all biased.
