Calling Out the Democrats’ Reaction to Trump Payroll Tax Deferral

trumpPresident Trump recently announced, via Presidential Memorandum, a temporary suspension of the payroll tax for those making $104,000 or less to compensate for the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The caterwauling from Democrats was right on cue. Democrat leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi called the action “unworkable, weak and narrow.” Ignoring the fact that the payroll tax deferral would apply only to Social Security and not Medicare, the narrative, clearly designed to scare older Americans who are already jittery as a result of the frenzied media coverage of the pandemic, began almost instantly after the President’s announcement.

Democrat National Committee Chairman Tom Perez referred to the President as a liar who broke his promise to defend both programs.  Pelosi further stated, “what he’s (Trump) doing is undermining Social Security and Medicare.” Presidential candidate Joe Biden issued a statement calling President Trump’s leadership into question – “This is no art of the deal. This is not presidential leadership. These orders are not real solutions. They are just another cynical ploy designed to deflect responsibility. Some measures do far more harm than good.” He also added that the payroll tax suspension was a “war on Social Security.”

Really, Joe? Doesn’t he and the Democrats know that the internet is forever, and it really wasn’t that long ago when former President Obama cut payroll taxes in 2011 and 2012? However, at that time, the narrative from Democrats was much different with then-Vice President Joe Biden penning an op-ed in USA Today extolling the virtues of the tax cut. Worried about the tax cut’s effect on the deficit? Don’t be, because Vice President Biden wrote “the cuts will grow our economy now without adding to our deficit in the future.”

What about the war on Social Security, Joe? Nonsense! As Joe further opined, “Critics have been spreading misinformation that the payroll tax cut will threaten the solvency of Social Security. That’s just plain wrong. The legislation creating the tax cut requires that any money the payroll tax would have provided to Social Security be replaced by other U.S. general revenue funds, protecting Social Security without an additional burden on taxpayers.”

Sound familiar? President Trump’s Treasury Secretary, Steve Mnuchin, confirmed that while the payroll tax is deferred, payment for Social Security would come out of the general fund.

When Obama cut the payroll tax, it was heralded as a job-creating mechanism. Nancy Pelosi issued a statement from the Speaker’s office in December 2011 calling it a “victory for all Americans – for the security of our middle class, for the health of our seniors, and for economic growth and job creation.”

So, it’s simple for Democrats, a payroll tax cut under Obama = good! A payroll tax cut under Trump = bad! To borrow a line from one of my favorite movies, Tombstone, the Democrats’ “hypocrisy knows no bounds.” Fortunately, AMAC members and the American electorate know better and realize when they’re being played. The calendar is quickly turning to September, then Election Day, and all of its retributive qualities, will soon follow.

The problem with Trump proposal is that it is deferred tax that will is to be paid back next year (unless he is reelected then he will forgive ??) and Obama was actual wage cut. Why fool with FICA at all right now??

Question: Did EXec Order on FICA go into effect yet? This was not in stimulus bill, but that bill passed house but has it been voted on by Senate ?? Last I heard, Trump said the would veto if passed by Senate. Both parties need to start working together for America.

This repub party is the most diverse in the history of politics. All tents are covered.
The dems have lost all votes except BLM ( 5 million), illegals ( 20 million), communists ( 2 million)
green fanatics ( 1 million) and 2/3s of black voters remaining ( 20 million). the moderates and 1/3 rd, yes 1/3rd
of blacks will vote for Trump. Thus the dems will get as little as 48 million votes.

prediction: popular vote: 75 million-Trump 55 million ( max) – Biden
electorial votes: Trump – 375 Biden- 165

A landslide

The Democrats’ projection, two-faced behavior has reached the top in 2020. They have no shame. And if the Democrat-run cities and states where riots, killings and destruction are running amuck with little to no action on the leaders’ parts to take control is any indication, they really don’t know how to control with decisions For The People. The truth is solely in their attempts to control a narrative (words), not actions (decisions/behavior), and only for the benefit of themselves, not the people.

The Trump campaign needs to play those quotes as if they were being said today to show how much the DEMS support what he is doing.

The RNC show last night was fabulous. Ivanka and the president gave terrific speaches. The fireworks were superb and I was
so happy to approx. 2000 contributors on site. The dems convention was boring because it was totally ” virtual”. “Virtual” is
lackluster.

President Trump set good example for America last night at WH, had about 1500 people in attendance with a lot of chairs close together & not too many wearing masks. I thought masks were WH recommendation at one time??

I think everyone had to take a test because they can’t take the risk to have virus positive people allowed in.

Okay people, I need an answer here. Stephen Goss, Chief Actuary of the Social Security Administration has written a letter confirming the fact that, ” If this hypothetical legislation were enacted, with no alternative source of revenue to replace the elimination of payroll taxes on earned income paid on January 1, 2021 and thereafter, we estimate that DI Trust Fund asset reserves would become permanently depleted in about the middle of calendar year 2021, with no ability to pay DI benefits thereafter. We estimate that OASI Trust Fund reserves would become permanently depleted by the middle of calendar year 2023, with no ability to pay OASI benefits thereafter.”
This is ALARMING! I am a home health care giver, and my 2 clients are quadriplegic from tragic circumstances, I assure you. This proposed legislation to “permanently terminate” the payroll tax, as Trump has said, is pulling the plug on on disabled Americans who can’t live without their disability checks! I voted for Trump in 2016, but if he is doesn’t have an alternative source of revenue to replace the elimination of payroll taxes, I’m un-Trumping. Thanks!

Yes, I understand your concern, but from what I have read a President does not have the authority to make sweeping drastic changes to the SS and Medicare system so these 2 programs are not going away anytime soon. Cries of SS problems have been around for many years before Trump came to office and Congress know it needs to make the changes but they have put this issue off for many years now. President Trump went with a temporary delay in withholding taxes from payroll checks because the relief package is held up in the Senate and he did this to bring some relief to working Americans so they will receive more on their paychecks. This is temporary and I look at it this way, everything the President has done in 4 years has been for the good of the common people so I believe he deserves our trust on this issue also.

By their actions, the Socialist Democrats have proven that they could care less about the average American taxpayer. Their 2020 platform is to spend taxpayer dollars faster than they’ll collect them. I hope and pray that those who usually vote Democrat will wake up and see the truth and vote for Trump 2020.

My response was to send this to Pelosi:

“You speak out of both sides of your mouth and your rear. When Obama cut the payroll tax you said it was a, “victory for all Americans – for the security of our middle class, for the health of our seniors, and for economic growth and job creation.”
When our current President of this great nation did the same you called the action “unworkable, weak and narrow.”  You stated, “What he’s (Trump) doing is undermining Social Security and Medicare.”
In my opinion, you and Biden are old, demented, sick Communists, who can’t remember what you said and/or flip flop around like dying fish out of water.
WE THE PEOPLE who LOVE this great country are not stupid. We can see who and what you are and where you are trying to lead the nation. NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!”
AND TO Biden:
“You speak out of both sides of your mouth and your rear. When Obama cut the payroll tax you said it, “will grow our economy now without adding to our deficit in the future.”
When our current President of this great nation did the same you stated, “This is no art of the deal. This is not presidential leadership. These orders are not real solutions. They are just another cynical ploy designed to deflect responsibility. Some measures do far more harm than good.” and a ““war on Social Security.”

Avoid the distractions and connect the dots: When Trump is re-elected, Obama will be deposed, Comey, McCabe, Sturzok,Brennan, Clapper, Clinton, and more will face jail. Pres. Trump hates obama and justifiably so. So, all those ilk are looking into a justice dept. gun barrel. They are running scared like the rats they are. Connect the dots, folks.

I hope you’re right! I’m so sick and tired of seeing the Dems break the law then accuse the Republican Party of the same. I’m very disappointed in Lindsey Graham and his so called investigation of Obamagate. He states evidence of crimes on Obama and Clinton but sits on his laurels and does NOTHING.
