Is George Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm’ Already Here?

animalYou may remember George Orwell’s book ‘Animal Farm’ from high school.  An allegory written during WWII, it’s an important, cautionary tale of what communism portends.  In the book, farm animals stage a rebellion against their human farmer in order to create a utopian bliss based on equality, freedom, and happiness.  They adopt seven commandments, the most important of which is “All animals are equal.”

Our own Declaration of Independence states, “All men are created equal” and noted the unalienable rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”  But leftists across much of our country appear hell bent on making sure everyone is not free and cannot pursue their happiness.  Exhibit A are new lockdowns and closures.  The most draconian is in California, where Governor Gavin Newsom has imposed new stay at home orders by region.  Most controversial is a ban on outdoor dining since late November.  A number of experts have suggested that goes too far, as scientific evidence suggests virus transmission is incredibly low outdoors.

The California Restaurant Association won a round last week when a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ruled that county officials must produce scientific evidence to justify the outdoor ban, scheduled to be in effect for three weeks.  But the same day, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti issued his own city wide ban saying, “It’s time to hunker down.  It’s time to cancel everything.”  No more playgrounds.  No more haircuts.   If you’re a small businesses trying to make ends meet, it’s just too bad for you in most of the Golden State.  But big box stores are powerful and have clout and thus get a pass to remain open.  Evidently there’s no coronavirus in those.

Leftists in California and elsewhere apparently believe in shared misery.  If everyone suffers together, then fairness is achieved.  In one video gone viral, Pineapple Hill Saloon & Grill owner Angela Marsden, whose restaurant is within L.A. county, called out her mayor and governor over being unable to serve patrons outside.  She even purchased a tent for $80,000 to try to comply with safety protocols.  She vented her frustration by showing how a film tent was put up just yards away from hers.  A special permit was granted for some of Hollywood’s elite of NBC’s Good Girls to enjoy a catered lunch outside.  NBC’s Sunday Today aired the video but edited out that their network benefitted from the exemption.  Reporter Meagan Fitzgerald dismissively noted, “Businesses and livelihoods hit hard. But the toughest toll of all is losing loved ones.”

But it’s not just arbitrary rules that “The Left” is pressing but ideology too.  The latest viral video shows a “woke Santa” who made a boy cry with this liberal lecture—“No guns, not even a nerf gun.  Nope.  If your dad wants to get it for you, that’s fine.”  Reaction was swift and scathing on social media.

Back to “Animal Farm”— the socialist paradise that the animals agreed to unravels in the end, and the seven Commandments are abridged to one.  “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”  It’s a most fitting depiction of how so many liberals wield power over us today.

Heck, I am living on the Animal Farm known as California where our facist farmer Governor Newsom doesn’t care that the people hate him. He, like Auntie Nancy, “belong” to the Progressively Communist Democratic “privileged” class that wants to control our every thought and action. What gives me hope is that because of the Texas lawsuit. I now believe that the Supreme Court WILL take this case and that President Trump WILL win his re-election and as a result the Progressively Communist Democratic Party and the Deep State will suffer greatly.

Have faith in the Lord People for vindication IS coming to these sinners!

Well written article. I used the exact same reference to George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” a couple of days ago when my wife and I work talking about the sad state of our country. I consider George Orwell to be somewhat of a prophet, considering he also wrote “1984.” Considering the socialist/communist-leaning educational system here, another sad aspect of our country is that most younger people (our “leaders” of tomorrow) will likely never hear about these and other great novels, let alone understand what their significance is to not repeating the mistakes of the past.

To answer the question posed by the article’s author, I have to say “Well of course! Where have you been for the last couple of decades as the country has been dragged farther and farther left towards global socialism?” A lot of Americans were acutely aware of what was going on and the threat it posed, but were powerless to influence change on a large enough scale to alter our trajectory as most Americans sleepwalked through life.

President Trump understood the clear threat of the direction we were on, which is why he ran for President in the first place. He tried to pull us back from the abyss and did any amazing job given the near total lack of support from most Republicans in Congress, minus a few Senators and the House Freedom Caucus, and the Democrat dominated administrative state that makes up our federal government. What people call the Deep State.

The Covid crisis was simply too good an opportunity for the Democrat Governors of Blue states to let go to waste. As Rahm Emanuel famously said “Never let a good crisis go to waste” and the Democrats certainly haven’t let this one be an exception to that ideal. The Democrats will drag out this Covid crisis as long as the American people are willing to stand for it. Months more. Years more. Whatever they can get away with. They’ve had a taste of authoritarian power and they like it. The like it a lot! So yes, peoples’ lives will continue to be destroyed by arbitrary and unscientific executive edicts from petty bureaucrats drunk on power, until the people in their states say enough and push back hard to remove these people from the positions of power they currently control.

So what is AMAC, as an organization, going to do to actively stand up to such abuses of political power? Just a question, but I’m sure a lot of folks would like to hear what concrete actions the organization is willing to take.

Wow, PaulE, minus 6! The truth you speak is a brutal reality!

Readers, I ask you to be a little introspective. Do you remember reading through some of your children’s or grandchildren’s public school textbooks, and wondering, “What the heck did I just read?” No? Did you not notice how Christopher Columbus, Christianity, or George Washington were summed up on a quarter page, while Mao or Lenin or Islam were praised over several pages of those books? Well, I noticed it, and I did cause a fuss in my children’s schools. When my son’s counselor said the classes I wanted my son to take (all sensible bases covered) had to be approved by “the community”, I asked what they had to do with it as he wilted in his seat. No, he wasn’t talking about teachers. Socialists, globalists, all. And that was 15-20 years ago; I can’t imagine the garbage being printed today.

I just heard that our state is closing all public schools again, but pre-K will be open as usual! Have to indoctrinate them starting at an early age! And that will guarantee their mommies’ and daddies’ votes will go the liberals, who provide free food, while the parents are oblivious to the fact that the state is taking more parenting decisions away from them! Open your eyes! The swill is tainted!

Look at what has become acceptable here. BLM and Antifa incinerating our downtown business districts while police stand down, powerless. Conservative voices being banned from college campuses and social media. Hardly any kind words from the main stream media, but plenty of derisive and fallacious invective aimed at anyone with an R after their names. An election that half the country doubt was honest! Not hearing the real story behind the pandemic! Death to tradition!

Look at the real numbers behind President Trump’s success–what he actually has accomplished to improve our lives. And then vote for that next time. Grab your kids and your friends and get them to walk away from the democrat party. That’s how we can take back our country!

Ha! What can I say Kim. A lot of people don’t like the truth. They prefer sugar-coated lies, that are viewed through rose-colored glasses. Like you, I actually took the effort to read and understand the kind of revisionist propaganda that was being taught to children 20 or 30 years ago. Most adults couldn’t be bothered. Their response was usually either “It’s the school’s job to teach my kids” or “I have to work, so I have to trust the schools are doing the right thing”. In short, they turned their kids over to a public school system, that functioned more and more like a liberal indoctrination center. Then these same apathetic folks wonder how their kids grew up to be ranting, raving little socialists. Duh?

If you ask most of these people what they are actually willing to do to try and turn any of this around, what you’ll hear is crickets. They are waiting for someone, anyone to save them from the society they themselves helped created through their apathy and disinterest in what was going on over the last 20 to 30 years. Whatever became of the nation of seeing a problem and doing something to address it yourself? President Trump still lives by that standard and he managed to accomplish an incredible amount of positive results. All despite getting constant pushback from nearly everyone else in Washington. We used to be a nation of people who look at problems as something to be solved or at least mitigated. Now it’s just “Who is going to save us?” So yeah, I’m not surprised that folks that don’t appreciate honesty.

By the way, the school text books used today are far worse than those of 20 or even 10 years ago. Now it’s is just pure leftist ideology being dressed up as “a new, progressive way to instill the proper education into today’s youth”.

I’m reversing the minus vote. Progress. I wish we could hear from some of the readers, to see what they actually disagree with, and how they justify their positions. But, that takes effort. What is this country turning into?

What is this country turning into? You probably won’t like my answer, but here goes.

Well from my perspective we’ve sadly become a nation dominated by a high percentage of people that are lazy, apathetic and soft. A lot of people want everything spoon fed to them. There is no real initiative or intellectual curiosity anymore. If they have to resort to looking something up, that is too much effort for them now. So ignorance of important issues is rampant. Everyone has a means to get any information on almost anything via the Internet, but they are too lazy to use the tools right in front of them. Everything seems to come as a shock to these people and we constantly see posts like “How could this have happened?”.

Apathetic from a perspective of no matter how many bad things occur, the attitude seems to be “Oh well” and they shrug their collective shoulders and just accept whatever it is. There was a time in this country, when people wouldn’t put up with politicians telling police to stand down or anarchists looting and burning private property night after night. There was a time when if politicians openly advocated socialism, the people would find a way to quickly remove them from office. Not any more. Now it is “someone save us” and they just accept the deterioration of societal norms as nothing unusual. That brings us to soft.

People no longer stand up for themselves and their freedoms and rights anymore. Of sure they complain non-stop on sites like these, but they don’t actually do anything meaningful. The left not only complains, but they follow it up with all manner of activities to get their way. They may be dangerous for society, but they never stop pushing for more and more. We seem to have a growing percentage of people, that are simply willing to just roll over and accept whatever the left wants to impose on us.

Too many people on our side don’t call up or write their elected representatives to voice displeasure over a politician’s stance on an issue. Too much effort or they can’t be bothered. A combination of laziness and apathy. They generally don’t do anything to protect their rights and freedoms. They look for someone else to “save them from themselves”, which is pretty pathetic when you think about it. Why should anyone stand up for you, if you aren’t willing to stand up for yourself? People just accept whatever new leftist idea gets thrown at them.

If I ran my businesses like how some of these people act, I would have been out of business and bankrupt in less than six months. You don’t just expect everything to be handed to you on a silver platter, where you just sit back and all your problems and issues are magically resolved without lifting a finger or breaking a sweat. To run any successful business you have to be a self-starter, inquisitive and always learning more to stay ahead of the competition. You have to be constantly innovating and adapting to grow the business in competitive markets. Which means you have to be constantly protecting your interests 24×7, because no one else is going to do it for you like you would. The same goes for life in this country. We will only have our rights and freedoms as long as we are willing to defend them from people that want to take them away from us.

Like I said, you probably wouldn’t like my answer.

No, no, I fully understand. I don’t mind hearing bad news, and all of us should welcome other’s opinions. The question was intended as rhetorical, but we need to hear the hard truth, as you laid out in your answer.

I was self-employed for 40 years, so, yes, it is up to the person signing the checks to know the business inside and out. We have to be aware of regulations and take care of paperwork. We have to find new ways to improve the business and to survive during bad times. No one held my hand and dumped money in it! Decades ago, as a new landscaper in a traditionally man’s field, I had to insist that I be treated as any other customer buying from their wholesale companies. (A couple of places refused to sell to me!) No hard feelings; they got over it.

As for politics, many members of my family thought “there’s nothing we can do about it” or “my vote doesn’t count” or “it doesn’t matter anyway” or “they’re all crooked” when Trump ran for office in 2016. Defeated even before the vote! I’m sure I was the broken record, but they did go out and vote for him after all. But they weren’t willing to do the research into the Clintons and how corrupt they were in order to make an informed decision. Right, no curiosity.

As we age, I believe many have become less incentivized to get up and do something, even something as simple as emailing our representatives or attending town hall meetings. I hope everyone reading this will participate at least on that level. If we don’t, we’ll be signaling to the young and to the idiot politicians that our silence is equal to acceptance and that we condone what they’re trying to force on us. There goes (went?) the country!

When dealing with today’s loony democrats, we have to be in-your-face defiant against their crazy ways. Otherwise, we get AOC’s naive nonsense, Pelosi’s hypocrisy, Biden’s lies and corruption, Nadler, Schiff, Schumer, and all their friends. I agree that we’ve gotten soft and lazy, and I can feel the founders spinning in their graves. We owe it to them and to all who have sacrificed their lives and fortunes to make this a great and free country…we owe it to them to give it our best shot.

You obviously understand and appreciate what my original comment and all the subsequent ones were all about. We understand that no one is going to “save us from ourselves”, if we are too lazy, apathetic or merely too soft to make the effort to handle things ourselves.

Sadly, there seems to be less and less people here that want to hear anything but other people complaining to each other rather than considering any of the hard, but necessary solutions we would have to take to correct things. They increasing appear to want the “painless, effortless” approach. Good luck with that, because that avenue ended in this country over six decades ago.

Anyway, I see I continue to get minus votes on almost anything I post these days. Even though there is nothing wrong or incorrect with what I have posted. Simply people don’t want to read the truth, when it does not agree with their views centered around “magic fixes” and “someone saving us from ourselves”. So like the thousands of other constitutional conservatives that used to be here and that have chosen to move on from AMAC, I think it is time to move on from AMAC myself. There are many other organizations out there that are designed to effect true, positive change for our country, rather than just talk about it.

Best of luck to you and never give up fighting for what is right. The future is what we make of it, not what is handed to us.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
