Justice Department to Review COVID-19 Nursing Home Deaths in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan

AMAC has been working with the minority (Republican) members on the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis to get answers from the governors of New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and California regarding their decision to force nursing homes to admit COVID-19 contagious patients who were discharged from hospitals. A tragic number of seniors in these states may have perished due to these decisions, and AMAC members sent over 4500 emails to these governors demanding accountability for their mandates.

Now, the United States Department of Justice has announced their request for COVID-19 data from governors in four of these states: New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania. The Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division is evaluating whether to initiate investigations under the federal “Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act” (CRIPA), which protects the civil rights of persons in state-run nursing homes.

“Protecting the rights of some of society’s most vulnerable members, including elderly nursing home residents, is one of our country’s most important obligations,” said Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Division Eric Dreiband. “We must ensure they are adequately cared for with dignity and respect and not unnecessarily put at risk.”

AMAC is continuing the fight to protect susceptible seniors and we will provide updates as they become available.

Andrew Mangione is Senior Vice President for AMAC’s advocacy affiliate, AMAC Action. He leads AMAC’s grassroots efforts, represents AMAC’s membership in Washington, D.C., and helps chart the association’s policy course. He also serves as a national spokesperson.

All 4 of these states are run by Demonrats and they only care about themselves. They wanted to try to make President Trump look bad, but he isn’t the one that did the wrong things. he was right about closing the borders and about using Hydroxichloriquine and zinc. This does need to be looked into by the AG. I’m not too sure the these Governor’s shouldn’t be charged with murder. Oh yeah, tell Cuomo NOT to run for President, were NOT interested.

The DOJ should definitely investigate this issue . They will go through the motions but do absolutely nothing in the end. Amac and others need to advise its members to look into prophylactic hydroxychloroquine protocol to protect themselves and their elderly love ones from ever entering the hospital should they be exposed to the virus. Big pharmaceutical companies do not want the truth out about hydroxychloroquine and zinc. They stand to lose trillions in unproven vaccine sales. If we never end up in the hospitals they too will loose millions.

Medical decisions should be controlled by Dr patient relation not the CDC, WHO, NIH, Governors, or medical boards who are controlled by the Big Pharmaceutical companies. Do your own research and you will find how corrupt players in this pandemic are at many levels. I challenge Amac to open a dialog with its members on Hydroxychloroquine as a treatment and preventative for Covid 19.

Oh No! You mean the role that the Democrat Governors of those states played in the senseless deaths of tens of thousands of elderly Americans, because of their idiotic executive orders to place known actively infected Covid-19 patients into nursing homes will actually face some scrutiny? But Governor Cuomo just released a new book designed to pave the way for a 2024 presidential run about how he did everything perfectly and was the perfect leader. All while he was crying every single day for everything under the sun from the federal government after he failed to listen to his own state medical experts to replenish the medical supplies he had allowed to be depleted. That kind of investigation, if it ever occurs and is done honestly by the DOJ, could ruin his presidential ambitions. Oh NO!

Then there is Governor Murphy of New Jersey that copied almost every single executive order that Cuomo issued and ended up with the same horrific results in the nursing homes here. He has political ambitions for higher office too, as neing Governor is just the stepping stone towards Washington, D.C. He, like fellow Goldman Sachs alum Jon Corzine before him, paid big bucks to buy the Governorship of New Jersey and such an investigation would throw a real wrench into his plans. Oh No!

The other state Governors mentioned also have been positioning themselves for positions in Washington, D.C., under any potential Democrat administration. They need to avoid any real investigation of their actions under the Covid-19 pandemic at all costs in order to keep that avenue of escape viable. Oh NO!

Of course, all this assumes that the DOJ actually intends to do an honest and fair assessment. If it does, then people will be held accountable for their actions. If on the other hand, should the DOJ just be “going through the motions” and doesn’t actually intend to do a real investigation, then nothing wil come of this. Anyone want to take bets on how this one will go?
