ObamaCare Taxpayer Bailout Prevention Act S. 1726 and H.R. 3541

by Andrew Mangione – As the fastest-growing conservative seniors organization in the country, AMAC remains very concerned with the impact ObamaCare will have on mature Americans, businesses, and the economy.  For this reason, AMAC is proud to announce support for a bicameral piece of legislation, S. 1726 and H.R. 3541, the “ObamaCare Taxpayer Bailout Prevention Act.”  Introduced by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Congressman Tim Griffin (R-AR), S. 1726 and H.R. 3541 seek to eliminate the “risk corridors” provision in ObamaCare that holds the American taxpayer responsible for any ObamaCare-inflicted financial losses sustained by participating insurance companies.  Given that a disproportionate number of older Americans are signing up for ObamaCare, there is a greater chance that insurers will need the government to cover financial losses incurred by the new health care law.  S. 1726 and H.R. 3541 rightly strike this perverse provision from ObamaCare and sends a strong message to the White House that it does not have the unaccountable, unilateral authority to bail out private insurance companies at the expense of taxpayers.  The risk corridors provision represents one of many troubling aspects of ObamaCare for taxpayers and fundamentally negates the underlying principles of a free market economy.  AMAC firmly believes that hard-working, tax-paying citizens should not be forced to bear the cost of this deeply flawed law if it proves unable to financially sustain itself.  AMAC is pleased to support S. 1726 and H.R. 3541 because they protect taxpayers from unjustifiable abuses by the federal government!

AMAC Letter of Support for S. 1726 and H.R. 3541

February 6th, 2014

The Honorable Marco Rubio
U.S. Senate
284 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Rubio,

On behalf of the more than 1.1 million members of AMAC, the Association of Mature American Citizens, I am writing to offer our strong support for S. 1726, the “ObamaCare Taxpayer Bailout Prevention Act.” This important piece of legislation seeks to eliminate the “risk corridors” provision in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that holds the American taxpayers responsible for any ObamaCare-inflicted financial losses sustained by participating insurance companies.

Based on the Obama Administration’s own enrollment reports, a disproportionate number of older Americans are signing up for ObamaCare – increasing the likelihood that insurers will need the government to cover financial losses incurred by ObamaCare. S. 1726 rightly strikes the perverse risk corridors provision from PPACA and ensures that the White House does not have the unaccountable, unilateral authority to bail out private insurance companies at the expense of taxpayers.

The risk corridors provision represents one of many troubling aspects of ObamaCare for taxpayers and fundamentally negates the underlying principles of a free market economy. AMAC unequivocally believes that free markets should be allowed to operate without interference from the government – rewarding private corporations for the good choices they make and penalizing them when they make poor decisions. For this reason, American taxpayers should not be forced to bear the cost of a deeply flawed law that is unable to financially sustain itself.

As the fastest-growing conservative seniors organization in the country, AMAC remains very concerned with the impact ObamaCare will have on mature Americans, businesses, and the economy. S. 1726 is a critical step to protecting taxpayers from unjustifiable abuses by the government. Thanks to your concern and attention for this significant issue, AMAC is pleased to support S. 1726, the “ObamaCare Taxpayer Bailout Prevention Act.”

Sincerely,
Dan Weber
President and Founder of AMAC

The Honorable Tim Griffin

Dear Representative Griffin,

On behalf of the more than 1.1 million members of AMAC, the Association of Mature American Citizens, I am writing to offer our strong support for H.R. 3541, the “ObamaCare Taxpayer Bailout Prevention Act.” This important piece of legislation seeks to eliminate the “risk corridors” provision in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that holds the American taxpayer responsible for any ObamaCare-inflicted financial losses sustained by participating insurance companies.

Based on the Obama Administration’s own enrollment reports, a disproportionate number of older Americans are signing up for ObamaCare – increasing the likelihood that insurers will need the government to cover financial losses incurred by ObamaCare. H.R. 3541 rightly strikes the perverse risk corridors provision from PPACA and ensures that the White House does not have the unaccountable, unilateral authority to bail out private insurance companies at the expense of taxpayers.

H.R. 3541 is a critical step to protecting taxpayers from unjustifiable abuses by the government. Thanks to your concern and attention for this significant issue, AMAC is pleased to support H.R. 3541, the “ObamaCare Taxpayer Bailout Prevention Act.”

Sincerely,
Dan Weber

bills like this can only be passed if we have the right legislaters in the congress, and we will only have that if we pass a
law that states: “no one will be allowed to vote who does not pay taxes and is also receiving support and freebies
through tax payers money.

Ha! We’ll be paying to bail out the poor insurance companies, too. They are sad because the banksters once got the bailout and are sitting on all that free money, grinning like Cheshire cats. Insurance wants their turn at the trough.

I agree that we can not afford to again bailout another industry. Let the insurance industry figure out what they need to do on the premise that they will need to live with their own choices.

I agree, good luck.

I think the bills are right on. I don’t support bailouts. The health insurance companies got in bed with the government because of greed and now they should pay the price for their actions.
