President Trump Issued a Police Reform Order; Senate Democrats Killed a Motion to Create a Police Reform Law

President Trump police reformWASHINGTON, DC — “President Trump’s Executive Order for Safe Policing for Safe Communities goes a long way toward the goal of dealing with the ‘bad apples’ in law enforcement. It sends a message that law and order can and will be maintained in a disciplined manner that protects law abiding citizens while acknowledging the rights of suspects,” says Bob Carlstrom, president of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the 2.1 million-member Association of Mature American Citizens.

The president’s message clearly addresses the concerns of protesters demonstrating, “with vitriolic violence,” that America’s African-American communities are most at risk from wrong-doing by police, Carlstrom points out.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday Democrats blocked a Republican effort to achieve police reform legislation led by  Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), the only Black GOP senator.  Scott described it as “a motion to proceed that you should vote for.  If you really want to get into police reform, we will need a vehicle with which to get there.”

As Carlstrom sees it, “Senate Democrats, at the behest of Charles Schumer [D-NY], were hell-bent on undermining a sensible bill aimed at codifying police reforms.  Apparently, they believe that delaying reform legislation can help bring out the dissident vote in November.”

He notes that it was not that long ago that the cop on the beat was greeted with a meaningful “thanks for your service,” adding that many of the same people who uttered those words are now spitting vicious epithets at the cop on the beat.

“Indeed, we must recognize that individual police officers can go rogue and they should, and must, face the consequences of the inappropriate use of force when confronting a suspects whatever the color of their skin.  But, we must also recognize the fact that the police are targets who go to work each day with a great big bull’s eye on their backs.  And, despite the danger to their own lives, we must acknowledge that the overwhelming majority of the men and women of law enforcement remain true to their calling without hesitation, without prejudice and without the intent to do harm.”

Carlstrom condemns those who would defund police forces and put onerous restrictions on them.  “Were their dreams be fulfilled we would not be facing disruptive protesters on our streets; we’d ultimately be facing armies of anarchists.  AMAC endorses President Trump’s Executive Order.  We see it as the means of allowing our dedicated police officers to get back to the job at hand: to preserve law and order, to allow us to get on with our daily lives without fear and to provide a safe  and productive environment.”

He says that perhaps the most honest reaction to the president’s order came from “left field,” from CNN commentator Van Jones who put it this way: The president “started off with a lot of unity, and then it moved off into politics, and a whole bunch of stuff that people are gonna fight about.  All that stuff is classic Trump.  It will be gone tomorrow. But what will be in place there is a new floor  – a higher floor – for Congress for now to depart from that [which] includes law enforcement support for data, for de-escalators, for better training and against chokeholds. I think progress has been made.”

Remember that both absentee ballots and mail in ballots provide cheating. In Wisconsin, we had over 1 million absentee ballots cast. I knew the liberal lgbtq judge was going to win over the Christian conservative rule abiding judge. I believe the Christian judge actually won by 175,000 votes but in the end she won bu 175,000. If u have a liberal mayor, he/she puts in their cronies to be in charge of the elections. U have 2 democrats counting the votes and the absentee ballot is conservative, they do away with the ballot and fill another one out with votes for the liberal candidates. The elderly voter’s vote is nullified!!! The election process is a joke!!! DO NOT VOTE ABSENTEE if at all possible!!! This is y the democrats r trying to keep this corona virus going to the election. This is the only way to beat President Trump!!!

Despite their rhetoric, the Democrats politicize every issue and will torpedo any GOP effort to solve a problem to avoid having “other side” and President Trump get any credit. They have no shame!

The idea that we forget more than we remember is rather obvious with the Democrats because IT IS AGAINST THE LAW (already on books) to vandalize, loot (steal), riot, etc. WHY is this being allowed to continue?

I would like to know WHY even the AMAC Newsletter fills this article with opinions from the Democrats after only a short paragraph stating what President Trump has done. So far I have not seen one article printed in any newspaper that SUPPORTS our President and what He is trying to do for our Country. We all know the Democrats opinions – its to destroy our Country! and turn it completely into a Socialist form of government.

The republican bill put the onus on the state governments where it belongs and can be overseen by the States Attorney Generals.and uses incentives for them to comply. Federal government would have a hard time regulating and overseeing the requirements of the democrats bill.

About a month Trump said that the considered US having most coronavirus cases in world was a “badge of honor” cuz it meant we are doing the most testing. Now that we have the most deaths in world, Trump says he wants to slow down testing. My Opinion ” someone needs to get through to him that more testing is the way to control virus & get economy back again. Yesterday , Pence talking about testing/virus was really disappointing coming from our Vice President who was in charge of task force. The younger people are not dying as much as older people , but they are most likely the ones passing virus around.

Why did Trump issue executive order when bill was pending in House/Senate & what all did this cover?? Did not find this in news. Seems like it would only make Dems/Rebubs mad that he was stonewalling their authority. Why did he not wait ??

I believe President Trump didn’t wait for a bill because he knew something needed to be done NOW. After all, what are the chances of the democrats passing anything the Republicans put forth? Trump was just getting out ahead of them.

You can not beat having loved neighborhood beat cops. They were the pride and joy of the communities. Bring them to the schools for meet and greets with the children at an early age. Citizens need to be aware of improper activities and support the police. Give our policemen continued marshal arts training.

This article lacks information. I want to know why did the democrats blocked the police reform legislation. I want specifics not opinions. Perhaps a quote (not taken out of context) from a few Democrats. Let’s be good reporters.

The article lacks the information about why individual senators voted to block the legislation. There might be some valid reasoning about the actual legislation, but that likely has little to do with the blocking effort. The article suggested that allowing the issue to fester improves the chances for democrats in the election. This might be speculation, but I believe it is the most likely reason.

Margaret, I hope you do your own research and not let other folks opinions be your guide, especially at the polls.

It’s easy to understand where the democrats stand by their socialist track record and the police reform legislation bill is readily available on line.

So, due to the quagmire the democrats leave in their negative wake and after reading the PRL bill, President Trump made the legal correct decision with the use of his executive order.

Just remember, executive orders and the 2nd Amendment give peoples rights to equal power on both sides of the political fence.

The political wars we’re facing today are the coup attempt by the radical left to completely control government using the democratic path of not letting a (good crisis go to waste) to falsely blame the other party, “their democrat Al Gores quote”, not mine.

Judging by past facts and present acts, the democratic party has evolved into the Marxist doctrine of control favoring just a few of the party’s hierarchy better known as the dictatorship of the communist peoples workers party i.e. BLM, Antifa as the democrats army of change, just to name a few.

I am not surprised by the continued obstruction of the Democrats. I have heard for months and even years that Trump was a psychopath. I am tied of this labeling of Trump. Nancy Pelosi is the psychopath. She knowingly lies and feels no remorse. She constantly creates new outrageous lies for obstruction. She seeks to dominate others at all cost. She is highly intelligent but is devoid of compassion and love. She would never apologize for her actions and is delusional because she truly believes what she says is true. She puts the her and the Democrats needs ahead of the Nation and does not care about other citizens or the country. She is dangerous and is quite evil. This obstruction will continue which is now the new norm. If fact many of the top leaders of the Democrats are psychopaths and are Satanic in their actions. I am very surprised that Trump has been able to achieve many goals in spite of the obstruction. We need the police for stability. Evil always looks like it is winning until good becomes the champion. It sometimes takes a long time.

I’m sure local jurisdictions include verbiage in their “law enforcement handbooks” that speaks against abuse on the part of their officers. Moving it into the federal level, with back-up from the Constitution itself, should spell out expected behavior in no uncertain terms. The consequences of any law enforcement officer overstepping the bounds of propriety should be immediate and stern.

But the public also needs to understand that in the moment of a suspect’s apprehension, with emotions possibly running unchecked, aberrations in behavior will happen. There will be those few bad apples out there who decide how far to stretch the law, and this cannot be tolerated. They should be fired and tried in the courts if an investigation shows that the officers acted inappropriately and if their actions resulted in the harming or death of a suspect.

Still, that is no excuse for riots, vandalism, violence, and looting that follow a protest. That needs to be spelled out as well–the consequences for these behaviors. But first, the officers need to be able to do their jobs, namely catching the vandals!

Shouldn’t the Democrat politicians be held 2 the same standards as cops. The laws they pass r worse then anything the cops do

That’s why we have to vote out of office those politicians whose legislation doesn’t make sense for our society. But, you know the dems hardly ever agree to anything the Republicans put forward. That’s why they voted no on Senator Scott’s bill, even though the dems are always crying out for police reform. They can’t be satisfied.

How can Dems who are a senate minority block even consideration of this? Perhaps a good political point for the fall. Dem senators are against police reform.

Of course we need police who are acutely aware of their responsibilities as public servants, and are able to control their very human fears and passions while on the job. These officers must be supported with the training and equipment and oversight they need to do a very important and necessary job. I support our Presidents actions and aims. Politicians who suppirt overthrow of our rule of law should be dealt with as the treasonous individuals I believe they are.
