Republicans Say Mitt Romney Delivered Spectacular Speech at RNC

The overall consensus among RNC attendees Thursday night was that Mitt Romney delivered a passionate and heartfelt speech that energized the Republican base.

Political analysts called the speech successful in appealing to the base and showing some of Romney’s personal side. The more emotional and patriotic appeals of Romney’s speech played well for a man who’s sometimes regarded as stiff and unapproachable.

Romney called to mind images of GOP icon Ronald Reagan in describing to a cheering Republican National Convention a future of opportunity and promise for the nation.

Declaring, “The time has come to turn the page. The time has come for us to put the disappointments of the last four years behind us,” “to put aside the divisiveness and the recriminations, to forget about what might have been and look ahead to what can be,”  now is the time to restore the promise of America,” Romney  brought the crowd to their feet.

In a speech that brimmed with hope and a promise of real results, Romney received roaring applause with comments such as these:

As president, I’ll respect the sanctity of life. I’ll honor the institution of marriage.  And I will guarantee America’s first liberty, the freedom of religion.

Now is the time to restore the promise of America, now is the moment where we can stand up and say, `I am an American, I make my destiny, we deserve better, my children deserve better, my family deserves better, my country deserves better.

The strength and power and goodness of America has always been based on the  strength and power and goodness of our communities, our families, and our faiths – That’s the bedrock of what makes America America.

I am running for president to help create a better future, a future where everyone who wants a job can find a job, where no senior fears for the security of their retirement, an America where every parent knows that their child will get an education that leads to a good job and a bright horizon, and unlike the president, I have a plan to create 12 million new jobs.

We will honor America’s Democratic ideals because a free world is a more peaceful world. This is the bipartisan foreign legacy of Truman and Reagan, and under presidency we will return to it once again.

If I am elected president of these United States I will work with all my energy and soul to restore America, to lift our eyes to a better future. That future is our destiny. That future is out there. It is waiting for us. Our children deserve it. Our nation depends on it. The peace and freedom of the world require it. And with your help we will deliver it. Let us begin that future for America tonight. Thank you so very much. May God bless you! May god bless the American people, and may God bless the United States of America

And just what did you expect them to say, that it wasn’t good? He has a plan to create 12 million jobs? Really? So why aren’t we hearing what the plan is? Because it’s nothing but more rhetoric from another politician, that’s why. Bait the hook and reel them in.

I wholeheartedly agree with the content of Pam’s article. Today is my 75th Birthday. I have outlived both of my parents (but, not my brother who turned 80 last month). My health has been declining recently. I really really hoped that I would see the economy turn around and that people would have better times. I do not believe that will happen if President Obama is reelected. This is such a great country founded on such great principles. I, just hope and pray that President Obama is NOT reelected. If he is, I seriously doubt if the America as we know it and want it, will ever survive. There is a point of no return, and I expect that his reelection will cause our country to cross that point. Please forgive me for being so negative as normally I am a very optimistic person. I love this country, but I am about ready to ask the Lord to take me home. And MOST of all, I feel sorry for all of those I leave behind. May God bless this country and its great citizens. Thanks for letting me be a part of your blessed world. God bless America.

Justanoldretread, I’m 57 and with all my heart believe what you say. If we do not vote Romney & Ryan into office and Obama wins, we might as well kiss our freedmon goodbye as well as any democracy we currenty enjoy. Obama will not hold anything back because he will not be facing re-election and he will executive order and back-door us into socialism and dictatorship. I work hard to help my husband provide for our future and am scared completely to death about the future my daugther and soon-to-be son-in-law (and God willing, my beautiful grandchildren) will have if we cannot get our national debt under control, our economy back on track, and conservative values once again brought into importance and prominence. I was completely energized and for the first time since Romney became our presumptive candidate for President am optimistic that America might just be saved. It is my fervent prayer every day that God will give us one more chance to prove we CAN once again be a people of faith and a land of opportunity for future generations!

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
