It’s that time again! Back to school, training camp for Football, and no more white after Labor Day! As fall approaches, let’s not ignore our favorite travel season of the year – the season of value!
Leisure travel bookings drop dramatically from the summer months into Autumn, and many of the destinations you covet can be 20-40% off from what they were mere weeks before.
This year, checking into a resort in Mexico, the Caribbean, South or Central America, or domestic locales from September 7th to Thanksgiving will bring the best values of 2021!
Mr. Sherlock, where am I saving?
One of the largest expenditures on vacation travel are flights, and we will see a large drop in the cost of air travel to vacation destinations. Better seat selections, less crowded security lines, and better prices for the flight? Count us IN!
These lower prices also allow for a greater breadth of low-cost flight times (6 am is NOT a good flight ????).
So we can save on hotels, save on flights – what else is different?
While the recent increase in travel is a wonderful blessing, there can be nothing more frustrating than an overcrowded resort! Fall travel allows for greater latitude in decision making and having a more relaxed experience on your vacation.
Sleeping in should be part of your vacation, and waking up at the crack of dawn to save a pool or beach chair is not on our ‘to-do list’! Fall travel allows for that Instagram worthy trip with ample room at the pool and beach and not having to make all of your restaurant reservations a week in advance of check-in!
Ancillary benefits are less crowded restaurants and tours/excursions at these locales and similar drops in price on many menu items and experiences. Adventure-seeking? That 30% off of parasailing, scuba, or jet skis can go a long way! Fishing? Day trips? Local guide? All of these things become more available at a lower cost with a simple turn of the calendar!
Downsides? Not many! The largest risk with pushing your summer vacation to the fall is the weather, and much of that can be mitigated with a quick google search on temperature changes to your desired spot. Most airlines and hotels will let you lock in that lower rate, and in the off-chance of a tropical storm or hurricane, they will let you re-book at no cost while maintaining those lower prices.
While others are thinking of leaf-peeping and Christmas shopping in September (way too early!), we want to be extending our endless summer with low-priced resorts, low-cost flexible flights, and some drinks with umbrellas!
Bring on Autumn
