Trump Supporters Take Stock of Jan. 6, Feel Mischaracterized by Media

TrumpWASHINGTON—Empty streets and a subdued atmosphere characterized Washington on Jan. 7 as Trump supporters processed the events of the previous day and the certification of the Electoral College votes by Congress overnight.

Many were packing up to go home, at the same time a fence was being erected around the Capitol; the National Guard presence was obvious.

Marine veteran Tony Good traveled from Florida and walked to the Ellipse to hear President Donald Trump speak in the morning. He said Trump didn’t incite violence in his speech.

“No, absolutely not. There’s a line between inciting to riot and standing on convictions,” Good told The Epoch Times. “He wasn’t telling anybody to riot, he was just telling them it’s our right to protest. That’s a right we have in America.”

Good became separated from his group and returned to his hotel to regroup after the speech. He didn’t go to the Capitol, but said he wishes he had.

“I call yesterday the first day in the 10-year war,” he said. “It’s going to be 10 years before this gets turned around. It’s going to take that long. War in the sense of … getting things to where they should be in America, as far as fair and free elections, election integrity.

“It’s not going to happen overnight, because the powers that be don’t want it to be. They want to rule. They want to be the ruling class.”

Good said he isn’t surprised by what happened yesterday, but is feeling a little sad today “because there’s going to be a change going on.”

“We just got to regroup. We’re fighting an evil system. When you have all the mainstream media against you and you have all the money going against you, it’s not going to be that easy,” he said.

‘Stand Up for This Country’

Elizabeth Rowell flew alone from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to join the protests. She found Trump’s speech to be “passionate,” but not to the point of incitement to riot.

“I never once felt unsafe. I met a lot of great patriots on the way. The entire time we were there, we chanted ‘U-S-A’ and sang the national anthem,” she said.

Today, however, Rowell said she’s feeling “kind of bummed, because I don’t like the way we were portrayed.”

“I feel like the media makes it look like the … people that went inside have now made the rest of us outside look like we’re a bunch of hoodlums. But we didn’t do anything. We were all there just to be patriotic and support our president,” she said.

“I came here to stand up for this country. I think it was ripped off, stolen from us. I’m not going to accept Biden as president, and I do feel like the world’s getting ready to go to crap because of him.”

She said she continues to stand with Trump.

‘Very Disillusioned’

Martha Todd, a retiree from Lynchburg, Virginia, said she felt good about the Jan. 6 protest rally, but didn’t hear about the fatal shooting of Ashli Babbitt or the storming of the building until after she left.

“I feel bad about the way things worked out, and I really feel bad the way the media is portraying everything.  Of course they’re making it all sound terrible … we’re mobsters and mobs and violent. That’s not true,” she said.

“I’m very disillusioned. But I do not support Biden. His family is a crime family. I just feel like we’re screwed. I don’t feel like I’ve lost hope—there’s always hope. There’s so many people out there that are so against Trump. They lie and cheat and steal—how are you going to fight against that—when they cheat? And they all support each other.”

‘On the Verge’

Self-described conservative Carol Logreco traveled from New Orleans and was at both the Ellipse and the Capitol. She said she wanted to be there to support freedom and the ability to have free and fair elections.

“[We] feel like we’re losing a lot of our rights, and that we’re on the verge of becoming more of a socialist or Marxist society,” she said. “You can see the indoctrination of our children and students and in our communities, and I really felt like this was the last real stance to speak up before we don’t have a chance to do that anymore.”

She said yesterday felt festive in general, but she saw some agitators within the crowd, which she believes infiltrated the protest.

“I feel disappointed. Disheartened. I feel like it’s a war. And I think this was a battle within the war. And I don’t mean that like a physical battle in war but more of a philosophy, and where do we stand as Americans, and where are our rights and our freedoms,” Logreco said.

“People can go to Portland and Seattle and burn buildings down and take over police stations and everything else, and it’s called Summer of Love.”

Going forward, she said, “we have to regroup and figure out what’s the best way to still be heard.”

‘This Is a Bad Situation’

Mike Morejon, a self-employed Floridian, said he feels “broken” today.

“Because of what my parents lived, I understand the gravity of this—this is a bad situation,” he said.

Morejon said his parents lived in Cuba as Fidel Castro took power and lived a difficult life until their escape in the early 1970s.

“They made [my mother] work in agriculture and work her way out of Cuba for four years. She had to go cut sugar cane and pick fruit and vegetables for 14 hours a day as a 17-year-old woman … away from her family. They would put maggots in their food and rats in their water supply,” he said.

Morejon said he fears a similar future is possible in the United States under the control of the globalist elites and the Chinese communist regime. He said Trump has stood up to the Chinese regime, after it got a pass for decades under previous U.S. presidents.

“It’s the globalists, it’s the elitists, and it’s China. They want to tax us, they’re going to raise our taxes, they want to vaccinate us, they want to keep us under government control. And that’s where I see it going,” Morejon said.

He came to support the Constitution, “because without a Constitution, we have no rights,” he said. “I’m here for every American. I’m here for every regular person.”

‘Fight Not Over’

Kim Kramer flew in from New Orleans to join what she said was a “very upbeat, very enlightening” day with “people who want to support one another, support our country, support our president.”

Today, she said she has mixed feelings.

“I knew this was a demonstration of the people to show our representatives how we do support our president. Other than that, I wasn’t expecting or anticipating anything else,” she said.

Epoch Times Photo

“The fight’s still not over. But I don’t get over excited about it. And I don’t get depressed about any of it, because I think it’s all in the right hands, it’s in good hands—whether it’s exposing those who are correct and those who aren’t.

“I have strong faith in God, and I do believe that with all our prayers, and with God looking out … I believe there’s just some really good people that do have faith.”

Why did the Republicans sit on their on hands all 2020 not backing up President Trump’s to keep America great and the voting steal from the republican voters!

January 12.21. Today’s New York Post Morning edition displayed a picture of “The son of an Orthodox Rabbi” who was arrested for joining the recent & unfortunate Capital Building debacle. The photo shows the demonstrator (son} sitting in a large chair while a (photoshopped?) fellow demonstrator running down the hall behind this fellow waves a large imposing Confederate Flag with racist implications although, clearly the ‘Rabbi’s son’ would not have seen it happen. Headlining the “Rabbi’s Son” along with a background racist symbol incites & ignites Anti-Semitism.
The New York Post should publicly apologize immediately!

We have now officially entered Alice in Wonderland times. Who knows what truth is? It shouldn’t require violence, we don’t condone wanton violence but the people’s rights are being taken away and the country as founded destroyed. We know that those of us that support Trump are really fighting for individual liberty of all people regardless of their political affiliation. That has been the bedrock of strength of the American System, all could be heard and everyone could find a place they felt “free” if they chose to seek it. God Bless every patriot that attended the rally! Resist tyranny, fight back with the tools you have. Be willing to use your purchasing strength to send a message to big Tech and the MSM. As you are able dump them, if enough of us do this they will feel the pain. It isn’t going to be fixed overnight, stay strong, and engage in the fight. American is worth saving. As I think it says in Romans, if God is with us then who can stand against us! God Bless America and all her Patriots!

I served as Scoutmaster for 11 years when the organization was still very respectable, but backed off when they allowed gays in. It didn’t happen over night. The BSA was finally defunded as a pressure tactic and gave in. I thought that was very serious, and probably criminal, but no one wanted to listen or do anything about it. Everyone went on about their busy lives. Evil entities were out to destroy a pristine organization and I was stunned and bewildered. That was back in 2000. The events unfolding now make that look like a picnic in comparison. They are out to take our country and our freedom and turn us into modern day slaves. Defunding the police and abolishing the 2nd amendment will make us defenseless. We need to fight back every step on the way.

All Americans need to form groups to fight back.

Mr. Trump told his listeners to march to the Capitol to try to stop legitimate government business. He promised to be right there with them, but he left. Why? He must have known something was going to happen. We can’t use the summer’s riots to excuse this insurrection. Trump’s lawsuits failed because there was not enough evidence to prove the election could be overturned. I am not at all proud of those who stormed the Capitol.

MistyS,
You are so wrong about the proof. I believe that in a true lawsuit someone (a Judge or Jury) hears both sides and makes a judgement. People who signed affidavits where not brought into a courtroom and questioned by both sides. An individual (judges) made arbitrary judgments without any questions being asked by the people making the claims. I want someone to actually LISTEN to the people who claim they saw improprieties and have someone on the other side argue that they were wrong. Until I see this happening, I will stand by my belief that this election was stolen.

I agree with you, and frankly I’m confused why, in this country, these cases of alleged fraud were not given the time of day. When there is any indication that an election contained instances of corruption, federal offices should absolutely open those cases and hear them out. You’d think the Supreme Court would welcome such an inquiry; that’s why we’re paying them.

Every citizen will be affected by this negligence, whether the offense happened in my state or any other state. The federal government has not been accountable to or protected the rights of its citizens, and we’ve been duped.

In a true lawsuit, the plaintiff must submit sufficient proof of their allegations with their initial filings or their case will be dismissed.

The wicked Communist China government is behind all these wicked minions in America trying to destroy us and the Chinese will take over.. It is almost accomplished with the democratic party and many rinos in their backpockets-many are blackmailed like the Biden’s, Joe, Hunter, etc. The mainstream media is controlled by the commies. Big tech is too!

Sticking-up for righteous, lofty principles is wonderful. But, being “nice” and respectful doesn’t win wars, make no mistake about it, we are in a war and have been for the last 12 years. The failure of those on the Right to “fight fire with fire” is why the Left is winning major battles and closing-in on winning the war.

I agree that Republicans have to be proactive in seeing that we get fair representation in government. That’s why half a million (?) people rallied on the Mall. It might come to the point, especially with the dems controlling all 3 branches, when I fear we will need to exercise “all our rights” to prevent being tread into the dust.

Today is even more reason for “WE THE PEOPLE” who still believed in the original Constitution to speak up against all this nonsense. I was watching the rally speech on TV. Our beloved President., yes he was passionate about America and his America dream for the people. Yes POTUS wants us to do good things for America, not destroyed it. He gave us vision of how to love our country with our hard work. It is amazing that after 5 years of absurd hate and mockery that the media and the leftist party has demonstrated against “45” He still has even more enthusiasm to continue to fight for our beloved Country. Our voices won’t be silence; let’s continue our fight with enthusiasm, love and peace. Do not give yourself into defeat and retreat. Let’s be positive and level headed for The America we love.

Antifa rallied their people through social media to disrupt the patriotic and peaceful protest of the certification of the 2020 election. That is exactly what happened and since most were looking for the traditional Antifa garb these domestic terrorists did what I expected them to do-blend in with the crowd and strike at the last minute with their insurrection and destruction posing as Trump supporters. That is Antifa but the fact that apparently, crowd control and barricades protecting congress were open tells me that the deep state certainly is alive and well. It will not be so deep in the near future but it will will smell even worse

I am very proud of those that participated in the rally. I’m proud of our President and I very sorry that our justice system is allowing the rigged results to stand. The incident involving the entering the capital building and the deaths and injuries lye at the feet of the BLM/ANTIFA infiltrators.

I have no idea why you were down voted but I up voted you. It is time for the people(states) to take back control of this country. The states give the power to the Feds not the other way round. Term limits and voter ID need to be prioritized.

AMACs current poll results indicate that the public has given up on infrastructure reform and reduced federal spending.
I think that the country is saying we are tired of DC talk about infrastructure with no action and we are convinced there
will never be a serious effort to reduce our deficit. The #1 priority seems to be election reform. Infrastructure repair and
deficit reduction are no longer achievable. Lets work on changing what we can and not on what cannot be changed.

I wouldn’t doubt the empowered Progressive-Socialists will get infrastructure plans started. All identifiable Deplorables will be rounded-up and sent to work camps for “reeducation.” 16-hour slave labor days will be rounded-out by 2-hour Marxist indoctrination classes.
Part of the “infrastructure” development will include digging mass grave sites to dispose of the bodies of the “useless eaters.”
Yes, elections have consequences. Just ask Venezuelans.

I wouldn’t have expected anything different from the MSM. But we must reserve judgment until all the suspects rounded up that day have been interrogated, to see if they are indeed Trump supporters or if they actually represent some other outside group. Rioters posing as Trump supporters are reprehensible. But the media are running with the story that all those violent acts were done at Trump’s bidding.

When Obama was elected, I participated in Tea Party rallies held at the Mall in Washington, D.C. Security personnel were stationed near the entrances of all the buildings on Capitol Hill. Some of our representatives were present and opened their offices (not in the Capitol) to hear our comments. Incredibly, in light of recent events, we were permitted to walk through the halls. And not one person raised a fist or broke a window or put his boots on the desk! We picked up litter and left the place cleaner than when we’d first gotten there! That’s how conservatives behave!!

I don’t know who the invaders were. Only a handful were needed to get the ball rolling, to swing open the doors, to rile up emotions. And as people do when caught up in a mob, some will begin acting contrary to their true nature. But the question many of us have is, if D.C. knew a big event was coming to town, why didn’t the mayor beef up security?

Dan W.

You are 100% right that each suspect must be charged (or not) based on the facts of their own individual case. We always like to jump the gun and pass judgement before all of the facts are in.

Like you, I am also wondering what the D.C. security people were thinking. They knew that thousands of people were rallying with the promise that something BIG was going to happen when just down the street, Congress was formerly certifying the election results.

I am not as charitable towards the invaders. They were a mob of cowards whose actions led to the deaths of five people including a police officer who was guarding the Capitol. As the President stated earlier today, they must be prosecuted to the full extent to the law.

One of my atheist friends used to tell me “It’s perfectly fine to say your prayers. Just be sure you’re standing in front of a mirror so you get a clear picture of who will make them happen”. You know, there’s some truth to that . . . Just sayin’.
